IMDb Top Box Office

In its second weekend, Focus Features’ “Spoiler Alert,” a romantic comedy starring Jim Parsons and directed by Michael Showalter, expanded into 1,100 theaters but came away with just $700,000 in ticket sales. Sam Mendes’ “Empire of Light,” for Searchlight Pictures, debuted in 110 locations but also failed to make a dent. The film, set in a 1980s coastal England movie theater and starring Olivia Colman, took in $152,000. The film premiered at the Boulder International Film Festival on March 7, 2015, and was released in theaters on March 27, 2015. Home was promoted with the release of a four-minute short film titled Almost Home, which was shown in theaters before DreamWorks Animation's Mr. Peabody & Sherman and Blue Sky Studios' Rio 2 in 2014. The soundtrack also includes guest vocals from Jennifer Lopez, among others, and was supported by two singles, "Towards the Sun" and "Feel the Light".

The DC film is currently $200 million in the red, needing a theatrical run of $600 million to break even. Second place belongs to Violent Night with an estimated $8 million weekend based off a $2.4 million Friday (off just 40% from its opening). “Devotion,” the historical epic about the real-life friendship of Korean War veterans starring Joe Jonas, sputtered along in fifth with $600,000 in sales. “The Menu” whetted viewers appetites for black comedy horror, coming in at third with sales of $825,000 after landing in fourth the week before.

Number-one films

I just don't like those slice of life drama movies, they are boring and never add anything new. Here something felt different I really loved how the movie started and how it ended. You have a guy returning home and from the beginning to the end, you like him and you root for him, there has to be a meaning for what he did...

Home received mixed reviews from critics and grossed $386 million worldwide. The presumption for “Fabelmans” may have been that Spielberg guaranteed an elevated result. He is the most successful filmmaker ever, and his hits include those with strong awards/adult appeal like “Schindler’s List,” “Munich,” and “Lincoln.” However, not only did they open in less-challenged times, those films also had an epic feel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Trailer Reveals First Look At Adam Warlock

If so, the combined grosses for the best picture nominees could reach unprecedented levels, in terms of both domestic and global ticket sales. The first Black Panther earned north of $700 million domestically and $1.4 billion globally, and both Wakanda Forever and The Way of Water are primed for box office domination. Additionally, A24’s indie sensation Everything Everywhere All at Once has already grossed north of $70 million in the U.S. and $100 million worldwide, while Warner Bros. awards contender Elvis has grossed more than $150 million domestically and $286 million globally. Other box office hits vying for the honor included As Good as It Gets, which earned more than $148 million domestically, and Good Will Hunting, with $138.4 million.

Furious with Oh for revealing their new home to the Gorg, the Boov declare him a fugitive. Oh runs into a convenience store to hide, just as Tip crashes the car and enters the store in search of supplies. Tip attacks Oh on sight, and locks him in a freezer, until he promises to fix her car.

Ticket to Paradise

While Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light looks to be another adult oriented bomb pulling in under $200,000 on 110 screens. The film has grossed more than $401 million domestically since its Nov. 11 opening, with an additional $339 million from international ticket sales. The Hurt Locker — the lowest-grossing best picture winner in modern times with a domestic cume of just $17 million — beat Cameron’s Avatar in a historic upset in March 2010. Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore.

Avatar, which premiered in China in early 2010, topped out at $202.6 million, an astonishing sum at the time, when the country was home to just 5,690 movie screens . It took three years and the construction of thousands more cinemas forAvatar‘s China record to fall (to Stephen Chow’sJourney to the West, which brought in $215 million in 2013). And when the first Avatar was re-released in China in March 2021 — part of a bid by regulators to boost sales during a pandemic fallow period for both Chinese and Hollywood releases — it earned a healthy $58 million, the fourth most of any U.S. movie that year. Among Chinese millennials, few titles are as stirringly nostalgic as the first Avatar. The movie was among the first wave of Hollywood blockbusters to sweep the country as it was entering its high-growth box office boom era of the late aughts — and Avatar became the biggest sensation of them all. The film opened on a bitterly cold Monday in Beijing in January 2010, instantly setting a new record for the biggest weekday opening ever.

Looking further back, the Oscars, which have long aired on ABC, took a big hit in 2008, falling from 40.2 million viewers the year before to 31.8 million. Specialty distributors dominated the category, save for Warner Bros.’ adult drama Michael Clayton. The other movies were No Country for Old Men — which won — There Will Be Blood, Juno and Atonement. “Violent Night,” the R-rated comic action film starring David Harbour as Santa Claus, held well in its second weekend. We are experiencing long wait times on shipping with this specific product. A movie that make us realize our life and make us feel something close to heart.

The recent rise in movie box office is a positive sign but it does not necessarily mean that cinema is back to its pre-pandemic numbers. In 2008, DreamWorks Animation optioned the book's rights to adapt it into an animated feature film. On his blog, Adam Rex announced that DreamWorks renewed the option of the adaptation in 2011.

On June 20, 2012, it was revealed that the title of the film would be Happy Smekday! In September 2012, 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation announced a release date of November 26, 2014. Sure, a lot of big-budget properties don’t make bank in theaters, but considering the sheer amount of pre-release theatricality that Johnson himself participated in, this is not a particularly good look. The film opened to mixed reviews and there was something about the film that turned people off from talking about it. Beyond die-hard comicbook fans, Black Adam was a relative unknown in the DCU, which mean that Johnson’s star power alone was the real draw for this film.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s Beijing correspondent at the time wrote of Chinese cinemagoers lined up outside theaters in foot-deep snow, waiting to get a glimpse of Cameron’s 3D visions of Pandora. The film was so popular in China that Cameron even held early discussions about potentially co-producing his Avatar sequels there. On the limited release front, The Whale looks to have the best per theater average of 2022 with $360,000 made for the weekend on just 6 screens. That is great news for these sure to be Oscar contending films as most of them seem to have been tanking at the box office. The slow box office returns for films such as Fabelmans and Bones and All are seeing them hit streaming far earlier than expected.Meanwhile the expansion of Spoiler Alert should crack the top ten with an estimated weekend take of $700,000 after a $230,000 Friday.

It grossed $70 million, more even than Best Picture-winner “Parasite” three years ago. Also this fall was James Gray’s “Armageddon Time” , another semi-autobiographical film imbued with a sense of how a Jewish heritage informed his childhood. With supportive reviews and prime festival attention, it grossed less than $2 million domestically. With China clamping down hard on Hollywood imports over the past year — the seven most recent Marvel superhero movies have been denied permission to screen there — the green light for Avatar 2 was seen as a considerable coup. Disney and its business and diplomatic allies in China are said to have spent months back-channeling with Beijing regulators to secure the clearance. But with China’s nationwide COVID infection rates hovering around all-time highs and health policies in a state of flux, Disney will need even more good luck for Avatar 2 to live up to its full earnings potential in the country’s massive theatrical marketplace.

The story follows the shared adventures of a friendly alien who is shunned by the rest of his kind, and a teenage girl searching for her mother after they are separated during an invasion of Earth. His autobiographical story of growing up in a violence-torn city was one of 2021’s top specialized releases; like “Fabelmans,” it opened in November after winning the TIFF People’s Choice award. It closed with a domestic take of $9.2 million (international much better, $39.6 million). The big exception among specialized releases this year was “Everything Everywhere All at Once” . It opened in March, far removed from awards interest, and immediately caught the attention of a much broader audience.
